Wow. it looks like going behind the scenes from one of Gorge Lucas's starwars films! like how you do all the green screen and such. So yeah, it looks like it'll be an awesome film.
Thanks. Only, to clarify, I finished and released this movie a few months ago. You can see it here. The movie is a stand-alone trailer only.
Beautiful. Thank you, Smeagol. I love making-ofs. I find them both inspiring and helpful. ![]()

EDIT after reading: Wow. It's amazing how much you did in Axogon. That is one nice program. I found the article to be very helpful - and it gave me a few ideas for techniques in future films.

it's an amazing differance between the before and after shots
i was like....that is CGI to????
i would really like to know how you did the water hand coming out of the ground in cashman ![]()
great Making-Of dude

You really need to make a full film out of that trailer.
Nice making-of.
Like the Doctor said, you should think of it to realize the full movie!
Its realy funny to watch this making-of. I love making-of´s because one/I can watch/learn how other pepole use FX/CGI and all the work arounds...
Intead, I thougt there was more handmade animation in the trailer, but this means that your work is perfect if one "don´t see" the fx-shots.
I realy enjoyed this making of.
You are the goodfather of CGI
Awesome article, Smeagol. I love reading your "Making Of" articles. I am really amazed by your skills with Axogon Composer and 3D animation. You have seriously got to make some more Axogon Composer tutorials, because I really want to try some of this stuff.

That's really cool! I love "Making Of" stuff. Once I got to stay up and watch Lord of the Rings, and watched the stuff on how it was done instead!
I watched the little clip at the end of the shots without effects, then watched the trailer. It's...scary.
Thanks guys, I'm glad you enjoyed this. I'm hoping to be able to make a slightly more comprehensive making-of for my current film once it it is finished, as I rarely keep these things in mind while making the films so I don't really do much in the way of photographing my set-ups and that kind of thing. I'm sure it'd be fun to make a full "Darth Bane" film, but this trailer took me 3 months so I imagine doing such a film properly would take me a very long time. And I have made 7 Star Wars brickfilms, so it's probably time to give that a rest. Rest assured, I have more (non Star Wars) projects in the works though.

I would love you to share some of your carrara tricks and techniques with us!
thanks
Sweet. I love seeing how films like these were made.
Man. I just read it again. That is inspiring. It makes me want to make my own Star Wars trailer. Than I realize that it would probably take months of work, and probably wouldn't look as good as yours. Still, it's inspiring. I need to try those little sparkles in Axogon.

I sort of laughed at the post-production because it was funny that something like that would become as good as the finished film.
Nice, Smeagol. I'm impressed at what you've been able to accomplish with Axogon. I'd be lost trying to do many of those effects without AE.
Heh, I just installed Axogon because of this. Really amazing of what you can do with it. Like others said, I love to read (or watch) making of's, this was really inspiring to read. Everytime I watch your trailer I get the goosebumps at the end where the camera goes back out of the smoking crater, the music adds alot in it too.
Like the original film i watch it all the time on i-tunes
